Transmission and RPM's

92 Camry, V6, Auto. So when I go to start driving my trans will not shift into the next gear until about 4000 rpm. It's not slipping at all, just will not shift on it's own until around 35-40 KM's and hour or around 4000 rpm. The rpm's will be lower if there is lest strain, such as going down a hill. I can make it shift sooner by taking my foot off the accelerator. I let it rev up a bit and then pull off the accelerator and it will shift. It shifts into the final gear fine it just seems to do this from what I think is 2nd to third. Manually trying to shift makes no difference. I've played around with the accelerator cables but am unable to adjust the cable to what is shown in the manual, I'm wondering if my rubber boot has been cut short but regardless no matter where I adjust the cable to there is no improvement to the shifting. I've tested the two solenoids in the transmission and the ohms readings seem to be within specs. Also if the car is cold it will take longer to shift until the car warms up. Before all this the car was fine. I've done two trans flushes already and added 'non slip additive' but again the trans is not slipping just reving high before shifting into what I think is third. Any ideas?

Can you elaborate? Did the car all of a sudden start doing this?

How do you know the transmission isn't slipping?

One day I was washing the engine compartment with degreaser and then a garden hose with somewhat strong pressure, I went to drive it around the block to burn on the water and the transmission started doing this. Before that the transmission had a clunk when slowing down to a stop and taking off from a start but only at very slow speeds, assumed this was from the broken motor mount.
I am assuming this is not a symptom of transmission slipping because the car continues to accelerate forward, it isn't slowing down at all when the RPM's are increasing, and the coincidence with the engine washing.

Still haven't found out what the problem is. Even took it to a shop and payed $120 to be told they have no idea (retards!!). I'm thinking maybe some water got into the connections, I'll try blowing them out with compressed air. It could be the main computer but I haven't tried anything else to fix it. I'm still driving it though, just take my foot of the gas for a second and she shifts.

i took mine to a trany shop for a free diognostic, and they told me it was nothing electrical or the tranny itself they said it was either the front main pump going out of it was something not hooked up right, like the passing gear kick down cable, which i am having a hard time finding. it may be off set and not triggering smooth rpm execution of pressure. which results in what they said "your having low pressure" which wasnt all bad but i need a way to find out "whare" it is occuring.

let me know what you do or whare you take it and what they say, id call a tranny place. make sure its not electrical cuz they can run the dio and tell you you if you have a bad solenoid or connection.

or if its a bad part. if not, then keep in touch and when i find out whare to find my issue you might be able to find out whare yours is.
