hi, my car is a Toyota Camry XLE 1999 v6 engine, i am planning to change the spark plugs on the car, i saw that ngk laser iridium was the best one but i didnt see any compatibilities on it with my car on their site, i have tried looking around forums and found no answer, i saw that the spark plug is compatible with lexus es300 which is pretty much the same as my car.. will the spark plug work on my car? and if not which would you recommend between the 2 following spark plugs..
ngk iridium ix
ngk laser platinum
what are the difference between the two exactly? i read people saying the ix is better and then i read some people saying the platinum is better, so i don't know what to believe so i want to ask you guys the toyota experts!
thanks in advance!

Laser Platinums(OEM): NGK BKR6EKPB-11 or DENSO PK20TR11, they are the same thing.
Iridium IX: NGK BKR6EIX-11, but Toyota states to use dual electrode plugs because of the waste spark ignition. Also, I think the life span of Iridiums are much shorter.
I replaced the O.E. spark plugs with LPs and now averaging 115 miles per 1/4 tank with city driving.
so basically its not recommended but its still compatible?
and out of the two other spark plugs i mentioned which one would you say i should get? because no matter what i am going to go for ngk, just not sure which model yet..

For some reason NGK removed the Laser Iridium from the Camry's Waste Spark System. So don't use it in the Camry. The Lexus ES uses VVT and 6 coils. Therefore it can use the Laser Iridium. Yes, waste spark systems stink.
Anyways, use NGK Iridium-IX over platinums.
The platinums were there before iridiums came into the main stream. There were talks about how the iridium plugs won't last 60K miles, like the double ground-electrode plats. However, NGK's thicker center electrodes (over Denso's) don't seem to have problems over 60K miles.
The thinner iridium center electrode provides "extreme ignitability, improved throttle response and superior anti fouling", according to NGK. IMO, plats are just old stuff.

dude, I'm jealous ... on 1/4 tank my V6 barely does 70 miles in my scenario haha... but yeah a short distance (<2miles) city driving in Winter is a triple MPG killer, plus the dragging brake calipers LOL ...

That sucks...I filled up with Shell 93 last time, $45 and only 13 gallons, gas prices. It is insane how good the MPG is in my dad's car, he averages 27mpg in the city also. I don't know how he does it.

I switched V6 back to Premium (93) fuel again yesterday, but from Exxon this time. I smell something fishy about my local Shell station.
I was experimenting with their regular and mid-grade fuels and either both my cars (i4 and v6) go bad or they sell fouled fuel. time will tell. perhaps it's the driving conditions killing the MPG so bad.
does your dad ever press on gas pedal and go above 2,500rpm ever? maybe that's how he does it I know I don't hehe.

I usually fill up at Kroger, but Shell was on my way. Something also was fishy at this Shell, the pump would continuously stop pumping and I had to hold the lever the whole time. Back to Kroger next time.
Acutally I don't think so, only merging on highways and when needed. Best MPG was on our way to San Antonio, we got about 33.5 MPG. I calculated at the pump. The computer said 36.

The shell we have locally here was always cheaper somehow than other shell stations nearby. Perhaps they were doing some fishy stuff for a long time or maybe shell fuels in general have quality trouble nowadays?
Will be sure at next refill at exxon.
I still have dragging brakes problem ocassionally on v6 (but not on i4 which got 12mpg too!).
