Wiper problems!

The windshield wipers on my gf's 96' Camry are messed up. If they move they do so very slowly. Mostly not at all. I replaced the motor but the wipers aren't even moving. I checked to see if it worked before in stalled the linkage. Also to make sure it was "home".

Reading the haynes manual it mentions a wiper motor relay. I suspect its to blame. But don't know where it is on the car or the proper way to check it.

Any one know where the wiper relay is on a 96 camry? Or have another idea what the problem is?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is no wiper relay for 92-96 camry Sedans/coupes. There is a Relay on the Wagons only. There is a 20A Fuse behind the coin tray (Fuse 5).

Theres only a few things that would cause your wipers to not work

1. Wiper Fuse (Listed above)
2. wiper Switch
3. Wiper Motor
4. Wiring harness

I would suspect fuse, switch, or motor.

If everything is working, or within spec repair the wiring harness

Something similar happened to my carmy, I ended up squirting WD-40 on all the linkages and it worked like a charm. Try this, take off the wiper arm completely off. And underneath you will see a washer, sometimes this gets seized and causes the malfunction.

Ya it would be a smart idea to try this before you rip apart your wiper arm assembly. Most likely its just corroded from all the salt and grime (assuming you live in a country that has a rough climate)
