Was thinking about mounting a sub between the speakers on the rear deck. Has anyone done this? What do you think can fit there? I wanna put a 12" if possible, if not a nice 10" will do. I don't want crazy bass, just something that hits and sounds good.
Planning on putting 6.5" components up front, 6x9's in the rear with the 12" sub, a 4-channel amp running the speakers, and a dual channel amp bridged for the sub. Already have a Kenwood KIV-BT900.
This is my planned setup:
Kenwood KIV-BT900 In-Dash Receiver (I already have this)
Rockford Fosgate Prime R1652-S 6 3/4" Component Speakers in the Front
Rockford Fosgate Prime R1693 6x9" 2-Way Speakers in the Rear
Rockford Fosgate Punch P2D412 12" Subwoofer mounted on Rear Deck
Rockford Fosgate Prime R300-4 4 Channel Amp to run Front + Rear Speakers
Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-2 2 Channel Amp Bridged to run Sub in Rear Deck
Rockford Fosgate RFK4D Dual Amp Wiring Kit
But before all of that, a Viper or Clifford Remote Start + Alarm

You will only be able to fit a 10" in the deck due to the cross beams, that you DO NOT want to cut, but it would be louder than a 12" in the trunk. You will still need a box if your going to mount it in the deck, running it free air would suck for both you and the sub. The easiest way would be to make a sealed box that is a bit wider than the sub so that you can run some bolts down through the deck to secure the box. Put some foam tape on the under side of the deck so it doesn't vibrate against the box, and cut a hole for the sub in both the box and the deck, you will need to put a mounting ring on the outside of the box to raise the sub up to where the rear deck cover is, and put something on the bolts inside the box to seal it.

I was thinking about doing the same with an 8in. I decided not to, to much hassle. Im mounting an amp to the back of the rear left seat, and moist likely a 10in bazooka on the right side, the longer one. Anyone use thre bazooka style ones? how do they sound?

Agreed, you'll definitely still need a box or it's going to sound awful. But it can be done. It's just an awful lot of extra work. If you don't need the space, just put a 10" in a small box in the trunk. There would still be tons of room in there.
I have 2 12" subs in a pretty big box and I still have a decent amount of room. I can still put my 100-something piece craftsman set, my jack, jack stands, toolbox, and a change of clothes in the back of mine comfortably. I had to do it the other day.
I think mounting a sub into the deck is going to give you a lot of rattles to track down and stop, and the increase in sound quality is going to be pretty slim. Rather than doing that I would get a really nice set of 6.5" component speakers and replace the 6x9's with them in the rear also. Then throw a sub in the trunk. A good 6.5 component is going to sound much cleaner than a 6x9. Although I've never heard an RF 6x9 though. I love Fosgate though, best stuff out there in my opinion.
My sony actually sounded really awesome too. I was using a sony sub and sony amp and I could set the amp all the way up and my volume on the sony head unit all the way up and it wouldn't bottom out or crackle or anything. Previous to the sony sub I had an Audiobahn dual 12 subwoofer in ported box but it sounded like shit. I was really happy with the sony though. and it was affordable too. I think I paid around $350.00 for everything
asg14 informed me that the largest size you'd be able to fit there is an 8" sub. I was thinking about doing it too, and might do it the summer coming up. right now I left my sub box out of the trunk cause it was really heavy. got myself an 8" free air subwoofer and plan on installing it next summer.
As for rattling, if you turn up your 6x9's as high as your ears can handle and they don't rattle the deck, an 8" isn't going to either at comfortable listening levels.
I'm running 2 12" audiobahns right now actually. They sounded bad when I first got them but they were wired up 4 ohm. I rewired them 2 ohms and inverse mounted them in a sealed box so the chrome baskets would stick out of my box. I'm only pushing 800-900 watts to the pair though. They sound good now, but RF's punch series would blow them out of the water with a good amp. I had 2 12" P2's on a rf 1200 watt 2 channel amp with one sub higher and one sub on lower frequency and it was the best setup I've ever heard.
Tens fit, but it is a tight fit. I know this is way more than you are looking for, but it should give you an idea of the size of the tens against the rear deck.
(I really need to update my pics of it, I don't have any of them actually installed.)
^ Holy..... wow. I think he meant that only an 8" will fit between the two 6x9s.
