Replaced struts to find both springs broken

As the title says anyone else have this problem? I have a 93 V-6 wagon and went to change out my struts, only to find that both front springs had broken in the exact same spot, near the bottom about 6" from where the coil stops.
Anyway had to order new springs to.

Ahhhh you could have bought my springs off my 95. Not sure if the 6cyl vs 4cyl is different but you could have paid shipping plus a couple bucks and call them yours

This is a very common thing, rust gets to the them and they crumble when compressed. Had this happen twice, and also at the salvage yard. Next time I do front struts I'm going to just buy new springs before I start the job. Even if they don't break, the springs might not be far from rusting out and doing so.

ouch that sucks. did you have hard rattling coming from struts with those broken springs?

I think the best route to go would be checking salvage yards for a pair of V6 wagon springs.
another option would be looking for a pair (or a set) of used OEM springs on ebay.

last option would be getting new springs, either OEM from online dealer or some lowering aftermarket (lowering/performance springs should give proper quality), maybe Eibach ?

the rear ones may be not far behind the fronts if rust was the issue.

EDIT:
