exhaust/converter problems?

I have 99 camry 175k miles, ive noticed lower mpgs & slower acceleration, i suspect the converter is clogging up. (i dont have local emissions concerns) On my 98 i took off converter (6bolts) & knock out inside honeycomb for straight thur flow increase mpg by 2. My 99 has diff set up, does anyone know how i can accomplish the same thing without involving a shop?
thanx in advance

Purchase a high flow Cat (Generic) For like 40 bucks and weld it on.

Keep your old Cat and turn it in for a profit. Removing the guts is wasted money

IIRC I was out of town with my 5-speed before the body got really bad and the cat plugged up. I think I paid $80.00 total to have them weld me a universal cat onto it.
