Toyota TIS vs Factory Service Manual

I downloaded a bunch of repair and maintenance information from the Toyota TIS website utilizing their shortest subscription. Is this information the same as what's in the Toyota factory service manual?

Where is the best place to get the FSM?

Check ebay. I found a bunch of them with search criteria "camry factory service manual".

http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=camry+factory+service+manual&_sacat=0& _odkw=camry+fsm&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1 313

If you really want brand new, then its dealer. I would expect the TIS site information to be directly from the FSM but am not certain since I haven't downloaded from them.

If that's the case, I probably have the bulk of the FSM already. Thanks for the info.

I just picked up the 3 book set of factory service/wiring manuals fer about $114 shipped off of eBay. I'd be curious on how well the TIS version compares to the book version as well...

Is that possible? Could one sign up for the 2-day subscription and then spend all day downloading everything?

That's what I did. When I did it, everything could be downloaded as PDFs.

so what did you do with thousand pieces of tiny PDF files (usually 1-2 pages long each) ... merging together or keeping like online, everything in its subfolder? it's damn hard to search for something in thousands of files

Another option is to get the shop manuals on CD or DVD. A quick check of eBay turned up many options. They might be a rip off, but for the price, it might be worth taking a chance.

Be sure to report back if you take the plunge and let us know if it's a or a

I don't have any experience with any of these products, so YMMV.

I merged mine into a single PDF using Paperport (a $$ program I already had). Fancy program$$$ like Adobe Acrobat can also do it. Google shows a pile of freeware PDF merge programs. YMMV. Only downer was that the links don't work any more...might be possible to make them work, but it's nothing I cared about enough to try.

yeah, that's what I figured too. downloaded all the puzzle pieces for my 02 solara (all engines, trans, options, type, etc.) and now merging them from bottom, section by section where I enter page numbers and acronym in file names, then chapter by chapter, making sure pages are ordered right (easy to do with sorting by date/time for first one or name for latter one upon merging in Adobe Acrobat).

however I discovered that I am missing 3 SFI pages in both engine (1mz-fe and 2az-fe for 2002 solara) manuals ... perhaps they are somewhere else or I missed something ...

also downloaded 00 solara engine 5s-fe section, where I have that funky IAC valve described.

merging those files, takes some time ... perhaps more than downloading all that puzzle ... god damn, Toyota makes it real hard to get a whole piece of their manual LOL!
