Headlamp and Lock Relays ??

Hello folks,

Car: 94' Camry LE 2.2L Power everything

Well i posted a while back about my failed FP relay well the cold weather has exploited, what appear to be, the lock and headlamp relays. Let me explain:

Today i drive to work, park and go into the office as usual. My co-worker mentions there is a camry with the lights on in the lot, so i wonder if it is mine and sure enough it is. This is odd b/c my lights typically turn off with the switch

So my question is: Is this a sign of a bad relay? Is there a relay that would fail and cause the lights to stay on ?

Second issue

My locks sometime unlock and lock while driving erratically and sometimes while just sitting still. The car is 17 years old (94' bought in 93') so im not alarmed but i wanted some advice before I go buy a relay for the lights and the locks.

Is the lock relay a possible culprit?

Where is a good place to get them besides the dealer ?

When you turn your camry off and the lights are off, you remove the key and open the door your lights should automatically turn off (via the door switch). Next time you turn your car off with the lights off, wiggle the door switch around ( Black rubber button where the door latch is ).

I will try that and that is what threw me off b/c when I got out this morning and every other one the lights go off as soon as I open the door. So maybe the switch is stuck ? not telling the lights to turn off? Would a shot or two of cleaner work ?

These switches become loose and corroded with time. You may just need to clean it and make sure the grounding bolt is snug. The rubber cover peels back.

^ The link csaxon refered to is for a generation 4. Your 94 is a generation 3. On the generation 3 Camry the switches are a bit different. You have to pull up the rubber boot from the bottom to expose the 10MM hex head bolt to unbolt the switch. First make sure the prong pushes in and out freely. If not spray some WD-40 on it and work it in and out a bit. If that doesn't solve the problem then remove the bolt and pull the switch out while still connected to the wiring. Don't remove the wiring. If it falls inside they can be a PITA to get out again. Chances are you will find everything on the back side of the switch is all rusty. Clean up all you can with a wire brush and then put a bit of dielectric grease back there to keep the rust from forming again. Also clean the threads of the bolt and the underside of the bolt head. The bolt grounds the circuit to the frame. Put everything back together and check to see if the problem is gone. This should only take you about 10 minutes. It's really easy to do.

Csaxon is still right. Gen 3's also have that issue. I think ASG14 did a DIY for the gen 3 somewhere...
