Door handle broke off.

Hi,

My daughter called from college, the driver's side door handle pulled out/broke off, the outside one.

I'd like to find a used one the same color (1994 - Gold), any online places I can look/ask. If I have to go new, what's a good source. I've tried local, no good.

Thanks
D

Ebay has a lot of door handles

Do you happen to know the color code for the camry? What may be easier is to buy a raw door handle from ebay (15-20 USD) and go to napa and get a can of sandable primer and a color matched can of spray paint and paint it yourself. All together you'de pay a little more than a stock door handle, but you would have the primer and color matched paint for later if needed.

I havn't looked recently but eBay tends to have both new and used replacements. Be clear about the color you want or be willing to paint one to your requirements.

A not-so-elegant temporary "patch" is to loop a plastic wire tie behind the remaining door handle body (if it didn't break as well) and leave enough to get a finger in. Insert it from the bottom, cut the tail off and rotate it so the head is concealed behind the handle body. It's not pretty but it works until you find the handle that you want.

Ebay is your best source for Gen 3 door handles. You could, if you want to spend the bucks, is take your vin# to the dealership, and buy a new one. It'll come color matched. I've replaced two that way...about a $100 a little more or less, depends on the Dealer.

Be sure to coat the rubber door seals with silicone or even white lithium grease to keep them from freezing again this winter, or she'll break another. BTDT

Here's a DIY on how to remove the door panel and handle. It s on a Gen 4 but it will aleast give you the idea.

Thanks, can't believe I didn't go to ebay. I ride an older Harley and get a ton of parts there....duh....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-95...Q5fAccessories

I'm thinking this should do the trick, not sure about the color but they have 6 listed and this looks the closest. Daughter is in upstate PA with a ton of snow right now so I don't want her fooling around under the hood looking for the paint code.

Does anyone know if this is the Gold looking color from that year, there are a ton of them still on the road..

The paint code is on the drivers door edge Listed C/TR. Tell her to look for 4M9
