Trouble removing "lock up" solenoid SL

I removed the electrical plug and two bolts to what I believe is the "lock up" solenoid SL (E) just behind the park/neutral switch on my 1997 toyota camry le 4 cylinder automatic. However, I cannot seem to pull out the solenoid from the body of the transmission. My understanding has been that it was removable from the outside of the transmission without having to remove the oil pan to disconnect it on the inside of the transmission.

Any help would be appreciated.

the SL Solenoid has a rubber O-Ring on it that may be stuck. Try putting a flat head screw driver underneath it and Prying on it gently. It will come out

If you place the screw driver on the side where the 10mm bolt is supposed to go, you can pry up there, and then switch to the opposite side and keep working it

Lock-up solenoid problem

Hi,
Did you get DTC P07733 on your code reader? I have a 1995 V6 LE and I got this code, which points to the same cylinder you are having trouble with. Did you ever get your problem resolved? Do you have a pic of where this part is? I'm having trouble finding it. How did you test it to verify that it was bad.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Remove the SL Harness plug, and probe the single pin with one lead on the multimeter and probe the other pin to the transmission as a ground and measure for resistance.

Specs:
11–15 ohms of resistance

Location: (You may have to remove the Neutral Safety Switch to gain good access to the SL Solenoid)

Lock-Up Solenoid

Hello again. I checked my transmission and that plug is not where it is in your pic. I have a couple of pictures here. Do you know which one of these, if any, is the lock-up solenoid?

http://postimage.org/image/2nhpkoykk/
http://postimage.org/image/2nhr88b2c/
http://postimage.org/image/2z4jjk76s/

The 2nhpkoykk image is the park/neutral position switch looking from the front of the car from the ground.
The 2nhr88b2c image is looking from the top, it is the connector just to the right of the starter. almost smack in the middle of the image.
The 2zz4jjk76s image is looking from the top, this connector is located just above the steering rack at the edge of the transaxle near the firewall.

Thanks again in advance for your help.

the SL solenoid will be a single wire Connector (should be anyways)

I don't know much about it, I think the last pic shows the VSS sensor (connector with bolts). I don't have much idea about shift lock solenoids for transmission on gen4 unfortunately...

The FSM says to simply remove the 2 bolts and withdraw the solenoid. I would say the O-ring has welded itself to the body.

Can you take a picture from the top, aim at right behind the neutral safety switch.

this is the best pic I have. I have to remove the cruise control stuff to get a better shot. But I don't see anything that looks like the figure in the FSM.

This is the wrong location. Please refer to the diagram posted by 71. Please show a picture to help confirm it. (there is no need to remove anything)
