96 Camry heater/AC airflow stuck on bi-level

Hi
I have a 96 Camry V6 with 116,000 miles on it.
The heater control panels has 5 buttons for face, bi-level, floor, floor/windshield, windshield.
Right now it is stuck on bi-level no matter which button I push.
Can somebody tell me what is wrong with it ? Thanks.

I had something similar on my 93 sedan. It turns out that the servo motor was fine, but some clip the connected the servo to the actual linkages controlling the damper had broken or come loose. I paid for a cheap part and a lot of labor to get it fixed. That was before I discovered TN. It would be a different story now.

It very well could be a linkage issue . That would be a nice, easy fix

96 Camry heater control

Thanks for the reply, here is a pic of the control panel

The link to Ebay is for the servo motor for 4 cyl, would it work in my V6 ?
If the linkage is bad, how would I fix it ?
Thanks, I hope to keep this car for many years to pass down to my son

It looks like you have an XLE Model .. the part number will be XLE / SE Specific:

Part number : 87106-33030
Price : $187.05

The 4/6 cylinder Heater controls should be the same.

Edit:

Keep in mind, your car VIN number can affect the part number as well (Vin # either starts with J or 4)

In short:

92-96 Camry 4 VIN
Part number : 063700-3583

92-96 Camry J VIN
Part number : 87106-33030

Best way to confirm which one you need is to call Toyota Directly, give them your VIN Number and tell them what part your looking for. They can give you part numbers. Gary on this forum can also get a discount on all OEM Parts too.

Thanks Mr. Perkin for your answer, my VIN starts with 4, it was made in Kentucky.
The panel looks like a bear to remove too, with all the wires and cables, any chance of fixing it ?

You should just have to remove the lower half of the dashboard.. Very Do-able yourself if you have a socket set, a couple screw drivers. Do you happen to have a repair manual to assist you in the removal process?

Perkins... the XLE was the only model with that HVAC setup. The SE matched the LE and DX models. But yes, the linkages do loveeee to come undone.

hmm .. Well to be exactly sure, call your dealer / parts department and give them your VIN #. They will tell you the exact part # you need.

I guess that it depends on where it was manufactured and what Options your car has whether it has that Heater Control vs. the other style

Canada spec LE's and LE Sports had them because there was no XLE for the Canadian market. I forget there's other places outside of America.

I replaced the control with a used on from Ebay, but it is still stuck on bi-level. So maybe it is servo motor or linkage. Any ideas where these things are located ?
I have a Haynes manual, but it does not say anything about those things.

It could be, I removed the lower trim panel on driver side, then lower duct, but could not see the servo motor or linkage
