Lightbulb Brake lights wont turn off

Hey,
I have a 1992 Toyota Camry. 4 cyl.
My trunk lights (brake, reverse, and spoiler light) all didn't work. I read other threads in here, and found the problem on the left hand side by the hinge-the wires broke-. I spliced them back together and added a few extra inches to give them more wiggle room. The spoiler, and reverse lights work now, but the brake lights are always on. I cannot get them to shut off. It is weird because the brake light in the back window is not always on, it only turns on when i step on the brake. But the rear brake lights on the trunk are ALWAYS on. Also, the handbrake indicator is illuminated on the dash, and so is the light that looks like i should "check my brake lights". I checked the brake fluid level and it is fine, and i also tapped the resivor with a screw driver. Dont know what to do!!
Thanks.

Did you check the brake light switch? It's on the brake pedal itself. Look underneath the dash board where the brake pedal is. The switch may have magically gone bad during the repair.

The switch seems to be working. The small brake light in the rear window responds when i step on the brake. If the switch was broken, i would assume this light would not function either. It is only the two in the rear trunk that do not work.

Check your splices. Make sure you didn't accidentally cross wires.

As said, double check your splices. You may also want to hook up a multimeter at your splices and see if there'sand voltage there without the brakes depressed. If there is, probe different wires.
