Rear Disk brakes on 93 camry XLE driving me crazy!!!!

I have a 1993 camry V6 XLE with rear disk brakes. I recently changed all 4 rotors and brake pads. THe rear passenger is the problem. When the new rotors are off ..the wheel spins freely, when I put on the rotor ,minus the caliper, it takes for force to spin the wheel. I thought it was the parking brake holding it . I adjusted it so that the parking brake was no where near the the rotor, still alot of resistance, I thought the rotor was bad, so I went out and purchased a new rotor, still same problem, wheel does not spin freely.nothing is bent or warped on the wheel cylinder and the bearings make no noise.. So If its not the rotor or the parking brake holding it back the spin, what else can it be ..any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Is the piston inside the caliper causing the pads to contact the rotor all the time? The piston itself could have rusted inside the caliper and is not retracting. Also the slide pin(s) (I don't remember if the rear disc brakes on your car use 1 or 2 slide pins) could be rusted and seized and is not allowing the caliper to retract slightly when the brakes are applied amnd then released. Did you push the piston back in to the caliper before installing the new pads? A third possibility is the brake hose leading to that brake may have collasped internally and is not allowing the fluid to flow back away from the caliper. This too would cause constant brake pressure being applied to that rotor. Check these 3 things out and let us know what you find.

Mike

re-read the post Mike. the resistance is occuring with the caliper off, so while that may be an issue, its not the root problem.

My only suggestion would be to check your re-assembly job on the brake pad assembly very closely. I did alot of brake pads back when the rear brakes on my car were drums and shoes. The things are a pain to assemble and align properly. Even the smallest miss in that part of the job, and no matter how you adjust the park brake, the drum will be sticky. I'm looking at my Haynes Manual right now, and I can't see and other way the thing could be hanging-up?

Did you try to put parts back step by step? For example, the rotor only and see if it bottoms on the hub or create any moving resistance. Then put the lugs on the rotor and check again. etc etc

Because if may not be the friction surface contacting the rotor. It may be the sides or other hardware interfering.
