No Low Beam Headlights

Forgive me if I am repeating a topic, but I was unable to locate anything.

Anyways, I'm hearing this all second hand, so I'll do my best to explain what is happening. The driver of the car is experiencing some difficulties, the low beams do not work. however, she did say that the high beams do work. Is there a separate fuse for low and high beams? Or, would there be something with a connection at the bulb, or the bulb itself?

I know she had some work done recently, but don't recall what that was, but I'm sure it wasn't anything that would have affected the headlights, at least where they are housed (not sure about electrical).

I'm just wondering if any one has come across an issue like this, and what was done to fix it. I'll probably be taking a look at it sometime soon to get a firsthand look at it. Hopefully it'll be a quick, easy fix. It's cold outside.

IIRC, it won't be the fuse since that controls both low beams and high beams through the same fuse. It might be as easy as the connection being loose because they did some work where they had to take the plug out and never put it back in.

I recently had the same problem on my '98 Camry. One morning the low beams failed to come on and haven't worked since. Also the high beam indicator light failed to come on, although the high beams are working.

A check of the factory manual says:

Symptom: "Lo-Beam" does not light.

Suspect area: 1. Headlight bulb.
2. Light control switch.
3. Wire harness.

My guess was the switch, since both low beams quit at the same time, and the turn signal has been a little funky for awhile, but still works.

I ordered the switch from Advance Auto for a little over $90 but haven't had a chance to work on it yet, maybe this weekend.

My low beams don't work in 3rd position, only in AUTO mode.

So I thought I was a wise guy "diagnosing" the problem as being in the headlight switch, but when I put it in, still no low beams.

I did some digging on the net and found where several people had experienced the same problem/symptoms: no low beam headlights AND no high beam indicator.

The problem? Both low beams were burned out--duh! In my case they went simultaneously, but that should have been the first thing I checked instead of the second. For some reason at least one of the low beams must work in order for the high beam indicator light to work properly. At any rate, I have low beams again. Just wanted to post this for anyone else who might have this issue come up.
