3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm just curious: has anyone on here done the 3rd Gen Camry-to-ES300 nose swap? I'm considering a Camry, and thought that would be something cool to make my car into something a little more unique. Also debadging the whole car but for a J-spec 'SCEPTER' trunk garnish to make people say, "What is that?" The car's a coupe too, so as to even further stand out; I think that would look really sweet.

It's been done. ASG14 is a god-figure among us camry guys. Yes, he's on Toyota Nation. Took him about 2 years and it still isn't perfect apparently. Good luck getting him to tell you how to do it.
PS- no such thing as an XLE coupe, IIRC. They only came in DX, LE and SE trims.

I realized that after I began looking into it a bit more lol. I did the sig a couple years back and it's just a PITA to change it on a mobile phone.
I'm hopefully going to get the car tomorrow, if so, pics will follow. It's a pretty nice little LE V6, leather, sunroof, remote start, the works. I just wish they'd come in manual trans. v_v

Several people have come to me, all out enthusuastic about doign it, and to date, no one who has asked me about it has done it. I;m seriously getting sick and tired of spending time telling people how to do it because they "are" goignto do it, and end up doing jack s***. It;s not even all that hard. I'd have had it perfect by now if it weren't for the damn fact I put most of the money into the performance of the car. And it wouldn't have taken 2 years to figure out if people gave a crap to help me rather then say it wasn't doable, and again, had no damn money so it was a piece by piece process.
Sorry if I sound like an ass, but I'm just tired of seeing these threads of people wanting to do it, when in fact, they never do. :-/

^ Typical. I'm sure you've posted it in open forum before... if he searches through your post history, he may find something.

That's alot of work ASG14! I thought briefly that it might be neat to swap the rear doors to get the cleaner rear window look of the ES-300 for something unique, but a good look at the door shape and body lines made me say "nope", not going there.

Yeah that's pretty much what i figured was involved in the swap. most front end swaps you have to cut/weld the fenders so they mount / look right. On some cars you have to mount a new core support for them to mount right. lol
