3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a dummie question, I have a 93 V6 XLE Camry Automatic and the cluster is like dead. Only works the gas, temp and tach. I was searching to buy other one, but I don't know if it's the same cluster on the I4 models too. Can I use any cluster from a 92-96 Auto. model or it has to be 92-96 V6 Auto. models?
Thanks!
It's likely not the cluster that is at fault, much more likely a fuse, or bad connection to either the back of the cluster, or elsewhere. But if it is a failing cluster, you need one from a V6 not the I4. The clusters between the two are the same except the tachometer, if you put an I4 cluster into your car the tach will read too fast.

Sorry, the tach also don't work. I said like dead because the tach and speedometer doesn't work anymore. I don't know the speed i'm driving or the rpms. I buy a new speedsensor and the problem was not fixed. So, I guess the cluster is the problem. I saw few ones on ebay, but there are for 2.2 or 3.0 and I don't know if any of the same gen works.
Thanks! I checked the fuses and they r ok, I'll check the connections. Also, the 92-93 cluster's are the same of the 95-96? Because I search and sellers distinguish the years, I believe they have to be the same.
Does the odometer turn? The first thing you need to check is the gauge fuse, if that's good then pull the cluster out and inspect the connectors to make sure they are plugged in properly. Failing that, the cluster itself could have a bad solder joint or other problem.
It is also possible that there is a bad ground somewhere in the harness but less likely. BTW, if you see an Ebay listing that shows compatibility for both that 4 and 6 cylinder, pretty sure this is wrong. I've put a cluster from a V6 into a 4 cylinder, and the tach worked but it shows too slow, idle was at about 400 rpm instead of the correct 700.
And I believe you need a cluster from a 1992-1993 only, not 1994 and up, but not 100% sure on this.

These might help, although I could not see in the manual which terminal exactly is B10.

The 92-93 V6 clusters have a higher redline (6500 RPM) The later V6 models and the 4-cylinder models have a lower redline.

71Corolla thanks a lot, I'll check the cluster's connectors and wiring too. And yes the odometer turn. If i can't resolve the problem, i'll buy another one of the same model and year.
This is the exact problem I have been having... Thanks for FINALLY answering my questions
