Wiper park problem
Just the other day, my interval wipers quite functioning and also the wipers would quit working exactly when I shut the switch off rather than finishing the wipe stroke and parking at the bottom of the windshield. I did some quick searching and found that it was pretty common for a little contact arm inside the motor assembly itself to break. So today I took the cowl pieces off, removed the black cover on the wiper motor and there was the arm sitting on the gear.
I figured out a way to reattach the arm so that it works like it used to. However, my interval wipers still don't work and the wipers do not park at the bottom. I assumed that the arm was supposed to be positioned so that it's neutral position was spaced exactly in the middle of the two contact points. I'm beginning to wonder if the arm is supposed to always make contact with one of the contacts and let the cam move it to the other contact at a certain point of rotation of the wiper gear. Can anyone tell me how that little arm is supposed to be positioned to make things work properly?
Thanks!
Robert
