So I was all fired up to install a remote keyless entry system on my car this weekend. I first had a used replacement locking unit to replace my non-functioning power lock on the front drivers door. After all whats the use of a remote system, if it won't unlock the door you want to ge into? Well I did it, I replaced the whole darn locking unit inside the door. Which is alot like doing laproscopic surgury, without any tools designed for that. Four little control rods with plastic clips, were you can hardly see them, then have to use anything available to line them back up and snap them back on. (this is after undoing all of 11 screws and press fit conectors, then three electical conections to get the door panel removed) Then you have to disassemble moe of the door including the power window tracks and assorted structural pieces. After all that crap... the new old unit does exactly the same thing as the old, old unit, and will not unlock the drivers door.

Maybe this was just my typical bad luck, or maybe alot of these things have packed it in after nearly 20 years. Any experience out there with these things? Do most of the working Gen3 Camry's out there still have drivers side power locking systems that happily smack their drivers side door locks open and closed? I really dont want to do this any more times than I have to.
