1999 auto transmisson fluid leaking from inspection cover, where is it coming from? - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

I know it isn't engine oil, it is transmission fluid. Would it be leaking from the Torque converter? Or from the transmission input shaft seal?

Anyone see this before? Looks like I not only have to flush and fill the trans fluid, but now I might have to drop the trans as well.

(Frustration!)

How good are yer engine/trans mounts? Did you have any work done lately?

How good is yer ATF? You could try some Auto-RX and see if it stops the leak or not.

Are you sure it's not just leaking from a deteriorated gasket? Not sure anyone can tell you where it's leaking from without seeing it. Any chance you can post some photos? Try cleaning everything off so you have a clean baseline to try and judge the source.

It won't be until this weekend I would have time to take some pictures. I know what you are saying it is hard to visualize.

It is leaking from inside the bell housing, behind the inspection plate (small moon shaped plate. This is a higher point than the pan gasket on the bottom (which is also leaking).
