3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hopefully someone can help me, I searched around and found that a few people have had this problem but other than a few blown fuse none has ever given a definite answer. Here it goes. I have a 1997 toyota camry LE automatic with a 2.2l 4cyl.
The Dome light does not work.
Power door locks only work with key turned on.
Green ring around key does not light up.
Headlights only turn on when key is turned on.
Clock only works with key on and resets when key is turned off.
Light on dash that tells driver rear brake lights are out is on, not sure as the third brakelight works as well as the brakelights mounted in car work but I am not sure if there is supposed to be brake lights in the ones mounted in the truck lid or just running lights.
No blown fuses, checked all with fluke meter.
replaced dome light, check and no power going to dome light.
replaced power integration relay with one from junkyard and the only thing that changed is clock did not wotk at all.
Well the lighting runs off the integration relay and you replaced it and had pretty much the same Problem. have you tried to wiggle the wires around as well? You may have a loose connection somewhere. Its kind of hard to wiggle the Integration relay around, since it basically just plugs in, but if you can reach behind where the wires are try to wiggle those wires around. Maybe a pin is Partially pulled out.
Kind of strange issue you got going there though. An electrical Schematic would help you a lot.
Check and make sure the short fuse is installed in the fuse panel under the hood. This is the fuse that the dealer installs when setting up the car, it provides power to the dome circuit and a bunch of others.
Which one would that be? I have used the factory manual and tested the integration relay circuits and found that the #1 terminal on the junction block side of plug does not have constant power and it says it should. This is the plug that the intgration relay plugs into on the back side of the fuse panel inside the car. I do not know however what to check next to see where that pin gets power from without taking the fuse panel apart.
Well, narrowed it down to the power wire coming from the 7.5 amp dome fuse in engine bay to the two wire plug at the top right if the fuse panel inside. I couldnt track down where the brake was so I ran a wire from the 7.5amp fused side to the plug and everything works correctly now. I wish I could find the the spot where the problem with that wire is but at least everything works like it should now. Thanks you to the two guys that helped me out with the schematics.
