hello everybody, i am new to this forums. but been following for a minute now, anyways. i have a 95 camry, 4 cyl automatic. i wanted to add some hp. it comes with about 125 hp i think. the engine has about 36,000 miles on it. i dnt really want to replace the engine but i will if it requires to add hp. but im lookin to get around 175-200 hp. any engines suggestions as to whice engine i should get or turbo/supercharger kits. and a price estimate?
There's a guy selling a turbo kit in the for sale section which is for our 5s-fe's.. he claims it will be about 180whp which is around what the v6 engine is. so i suggest going that route if you wanna turbo, or swapping a v6 engine into it.
his kit is selling for $750 firm. a v6 will cost you more than that.
to tell yu tha truth bruh, im new to this whole car thing. im 16 n jus got a car. so im tryna fix it up n what not. so im not sure what kind of engine is in my car. is tha 5s-fe what i have?
Yes you have the 5s-fe. What I'd suggest is use the search button and read up. It's going to take a heck of a lot of reading so don't do it unless you know you really want to stick with the camry for awhile. It's a long and hard road customizing a camry because its just that, custom. Not a lot of aftermarket parts for the camry. I'd also suggest not going into turbo or engine swaps just yet. Start off smaller, like suspension or sway bar. Then get into bigger mods when you are more capable of it. Again, searching is your best friend.
ima do tht. im startin off real small. im gettin rims, i already replaced tha stock head unit/speakers. but my front speakers kinda low? but also im tryin to replace the grille with a mesh grille, and get some black chrome diamond headlights. but its all white. so im goin "ALL WHITE EVERYTHINGGG" lol. but i plan on turnin this caR into my project car. good looks my manss.
Automatic + 5s-fe + turbo = bye-bye tranny. Your first mods need to be basic maintaince. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. Then move to suspension. THEN wheels. THEN a tranny swap. THEN turbo.
edit: Where are you in Virgina?

Hm, didnt know. Do the different ECU's make a difference? like a 3vz was made for a camry, so it has a camry ECU. But a Celica 3s is made for a celica.

The ECUs AND wiring harnesses need to match the engine. The 3S swap has been done before, and it CAN work. 3S ECU and wiring. Not sure about the gauges and whatnot.

i wouldnt call a 3sgte swap just has hard as a v6 one. while its easy compared to some other swaps out there, it is much easier to swap in something that the car was avalible with. But if i wanted a V6, id just buy a camry with a v6...5speed.
OP...good call friend, thats some good advice he gave ya. start small, stick to visual, suspension and sound mods for now.
