92 Camry

Make: Toyota
Model: Camry
Year: 1992
KMs: 517000
body type: Sedan
Transmission: Automatic

I am looking to buy this used camry. I know next to nothing about cars, but from talking to friends who know things, i know a camry is a pretty good car.
the description says this:

MUST SELL this car ASAP! Will sell for $600 or best offer! It has good tires and little rust. This 4 door, white car has a car starter and after market CD player. It was diligently cared for by its two owners, my father and I. It looks new inside and I can produce all maintenance and repair records. I am selling because I need a truck.

So, advice? :)
much appreciated.

I'd be a little weary of the purchase since the sale is expressed urgently.
If you are able to check it out in person, I would. Bring someone competent about cars along with you. I would even go as far as bringing it to a mechanic and have it looked it while you "test drive" it.

i have gone to see it. all the things i can see are in working condition and it has to be inspected before it's insured. so i'm getting it inspected before i buy it.
but besides that, it seems okay? or should i keep looking?

Im pretty sure that you need a reinspection on a change of title. Dont quote me on that though.

That 517,000km would worry me, unless you want to spend the money replacing the engine and tranny...unless they have been replaced before.

Be sure to ask when the last time the timing belt/water pump was changed too, which can be a bit pricey unless you do it yourself.

Maybe you should keep looking. T-belt has probably not been changed which may be why they want to sell

hmm . $600.00 sounds like most of my camrys . hehe

Be prepared to put some wrench time into a camry if its under $1000.00

I bought my 92 camry XLE for $600.00, 92 Camry LE for $700.00, 95 Camry for $800.00. All of them needed work. One needed a motor, the other a transmission, and the other a lot of electrical work and overhaul.

Edit:

Things that some people don't change and go bad over time. Control arm bushings, Sway bar bushings, Strut tower bushings, Gas Tank, Fuel lines, Brake lines, motor mounts, motor fluids (EEK! )

I would probably buy it if it were in good shape, but thats because I love these cars!

Not if he/she has someone he can trust (tall order) to help him/her out.
