Firing problem

Got the timing perfect ....got new coil...got new cap and rotor...new timing belt....but the car not firing? It crank but not firing. Check the wires, got all firing order...test for current I just got shock with the current....pull the spark plug its SOAK with fuel so there is no problem with Fuel delivery.....any suggestion why not firing? I think I'll wait till the fuel evaporate from the intake coz I think its flooded but hope that's it...

Does your car have a crankshaft position sensor ? If so have you checked it ?

What fuel pressure are you getting? I know your getting fuel, but you didn't say how much pressure your getting.

What motor are you working with here?

What did you do before the car didn't start?

As usual tell us what color the spark is. Remove plug and attach plug wire, then touch plug threads to ground, have someone turn the engine over and see if the spark is bright blue - if not then you're not getting full voltage to plug.

Either you're not getting full voltage to the primary of the coil or the coil is not putting out full secondary voltage. Engine needs air, fuel, compression, timing, spark. If you get bright blue spark then you're not getting one of the other ingredients. You'd have to recheck your work.

If you have checked for a bright blue spark as noted above by several other posters, and still think you have a flooded engine, then hold your foor to the floor and crank the engine. That's how you start a flooded engine. This was true in the days of carburated engines and is still true today with modern fuel injected engines.

Sorry. Hold your foot to the floor on the gas pedal and crank it.

You might have set the camshaft timing to the wrong mark. There are 2 and people mix them up sometimes.

I don't think it's possible to install the distributor incorrectly, but something looks wrong. Which plug wire is it pointing to when engine mechanical timing set to TDC COMPRESSION? Have you checked ignition timing?

Yah dats amazing coz it was pointing in between 1 -2...though d firing goes 1-3-4-2...if i have to time it based to where d rotor point at spark plug 1 it sounds bad cranking it and i know thats not how it sound for perfect timing...i put my timing on d cam sproket at the dot and hole..which is supposed to be on the v mark and hole...
