1999 Camry I4 - Hesitation on acceleration/No Throttle response

Hi everyone,

I have a 1999 Toyota Camry I4, and i have a bit of a strange issue recently. What has been happening is the following. Intermittently under medium to heavy acceleration, i have no throttle response for approximately 3-5 seconds, and then the car begins to accelerate. It is as if i am not pressing the throttle for this initial period of time, though i am. I have no engine hesitation/miss at cruising speed.

I do not have a CEL (Checked with my OBDII scanner) and im not sure whether this could be EGR related, TPS related, or something else.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking of replacing TPS relay, but not sure if there is any institutional knowledge out there about this issue.

Start by cleaning out the throttle body. It's cheap and easy to do, and many times solves problems like you are experiencing. Here's a DIY on how to do it on your engine.
