3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Sooo, I bought a 93 camry xle v6 auto with all options about 6 months ago & I'm lovin it! I have had some troubles but nothing I cant handle. I paid $1800.00 with 200000 miles on it. When I poped the hood the engine compartment was clean as a whistle, looks like not a drop of anything has ever been spilled. Interior is impeccable just minor creasing on driver seat bottom & driver left seat back (its 18 year old leather but looks like it was just re covered). Minor nicks on hood (again its 18 years old). Also the tranny just stopped one day then 2 months later after i came up with a million things it could be my friend told me to do a tranny filter/fluid swap & whataya know its perfect! This car is one of a kind do to the nature of its condition since theres lots of these cars but not one in this kind of condition (just set the odometer to 0000000 & you could sell it as a brand new car off the lot) like it was driven off the truck into a garage then never touched again. This is my baby & I'm getting ready to cut her to pieces & fully customize her appearance/performance! Shes gonna be one bad b****! Thanks for listening to me ramble. Be sure to look for more of my rambling cause I have my best ideas when I'm rambling. lol p.s. if your a 3rd gen camry owner/lover then feel free to chat me up on the subject cause these cars are worth it!
Hi and welcome!
I don't really get your poll, but I do have a question....
Why are you going to tear up a Camry that is in such great condition? Why not get a beater for that? How about selling this one to someone that will trully appreciate the great condition and keep it that way and then using the proceeds for your mods?
Either way, you got a good deal on a clean car, so I understand that its a clean slate to start with.
Hey, you found a good one, great! Be careful and be kind to what makes the car a nice one in the first place. Sorry, but I'm a girl that loves the cars the way they are, but just wants to inject a little Supra Turbo DNA into it for a bit of fun. Go for it, but anytime I hear "cut it up" I wonder and worry about the results. Take your time, do a good job, and even though I just joined in the last year, I think alot of TN people will be watching and hoping that you make your Camry into something great and don't enhanse it into the junkyard.

Ok sorry let me clear this up. I am actually not going to be "cutting" the car just replace things like intake & manifold, exhaust & manifold, body kit, lights, suspension system, brake system, wheels & tires, tint (factory sucks), cams, alt, battery, stereo, not to mention all the little things like hoses & wires that look a lil old, I will put it all in storage so it can be swapped at any time! No turbo or super chargers or nos or any of that just looking for a show car!
Not to brag but I got lucky last November and found a 93 V6 XLE with 130K miles on craigslist for $1,500. He didn't know what he had. I wrote the check as fast as I could before he changed his mind.
Well, it could be something simple, like the radiator cap. A lot of things can mimic a blown HG. Post up a thread with the details, or list them here. I can always edit the title for you.
