Well, i need to replace the driverside front axle in my coupe build. Its a standard, but Im fairly certain that i can use the axle from my old car? Just looking for some conformation.

I'm pretty sure there's a difference on the input shaft between the Auto and the Manual axles. I know the info is on this forum. Search.

Won't work. The inner splines are different and/or the lengths are different.

MY GOD. the auto axle will work, at the expense of your transimssion. Be prepared to re-do the tranny if you use an auto axle. I made this mistake. Just buy a new OEM axle from Gary...please.

All my gear oil leaked out 200 miles away from home. Needless to say I had to ghetto rig it together to get it home and then pull the trans and inspect it.

Gary is the site sponsor from Toyota of Newman. He's got very good prices, I actually just ordered an axle for my 5 speed from him. It was only a couple hamiltons over aftermarket prices.

^+1. Gary's a great guy to deal with. His board name is Toyotapartsman, or something close to that.

hmmm, that is very interesting
because before i swapped the axle i did compare the manual and auto axle, and they are identical for 4cylinder, and both tranny are still running fine after swapped.

the reason i swapped was because the my manual axle was torn, and i have a auto axle with new oem boot standby, and i normally buy oem cv boot from stealership and have my mechanic friend rebuild for me.
i do recommend new axle seal when replacing axle to prevent oil leak, those are only $7 to $10 each from stealership.
