I can't get the passenger side axle out of the housing!

Anyone have any tips on getting that sucker to come out? 96 LE L4

It's like it's seized in the transaxle...

Ahhhh the infamous seized carrier bearing. Hint: it's probably the bearing, not the transmission.

Some remove the bearing mount and just buy a new one, I tried and found that more difficult than anything.

Since you need a new bearing anyway, take a punch and hammer and knock the sucker out. Or a chisel and break it out.

Elbow grease and brute force are all that's needed...maybe a little pentrating oil and a blue flame!

You have the carrier (intermediate) bearing freed from the engine mount?

edit - what Chris said. But I like to remove the entire mount, then heat the bearing and smash the end of the axle onto a concrete pad, comes out every time. I never had much luck trying to get the bearing to come out while the mount is still on the car but it can be done. Some people take an angle grinder and severe the shaft between the bearing and the axle. Then pound the bearing out that way.

Good videos.

But I will warn people who use an angle grinder. NEVER do so without wearing heavy gloves. If you slip, that grinder will take off a nice chunk of flesh, or worse.
