3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
First off, I know this topic has been covered before, but I can't find the info on what I'm looking for. So thanks for putting up with a re-post...
Okay, so I need to get a front bumper back on the wagon. While I'm still working on my custom one, I need one on the car so I can use it. Since I have to get another one anyway I was thinking of mixing it up a little bit.
Seeing as the Wagon is a '96 it has the Gen 3.5 Front end. While I love my 3.5 HID Headlights and my grille, I've always like the the 3rd gen bumper better (I think it's the fact that the blinkers don't wrap around).
Now I know that there will be a gap below the headlights and grille if you try to mix the two. But does anyone know how big that will be? Or better yet have any pictures of a 3rd gen bumper with a 3.5 grille/headlight combo?
I want to make sure that this will look as good in real life as it does in my head.
Hmm.. I think you have things a bit backwards. The gen 3 bumper turn signals wrap around whereas the gen 3.5 turn signals don't. I've seen a picture of it somewhere.. can't find it right now, but iirc the gap under the grill was maybe half cm.. which is a lot imo.
95-96 (gen 3.5) Note headlight shape, orange corner lights, grille shape, color of grille (always color matched), turn signals, and horizontal split on the lower side "intakes"
92-94 (gen 3.0) Note headlight shape, clear corner lights, grille shape, color of grille (always black), turn signals, and lack of horizontal split on the lower side "intakes"

Y'all are right. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that. The bumper I'm working on at the moment doesn't have blinkers anymore, so I was going off of memory, and I had it backwards. That's my bad.
i wish i had a gen 3 front bumper and headlight combo. i like so much better then 3.5 :/
You know you can just swap the headlights and grille!.. You do have to cut the lip below the grill a little but its not too bad. I swapped in a gen 3.5 front bumper so I could use the 3.5 RMM lip, but kept the headlights and grille.
You guys should see what '88-'91 Honda CRX / Civic owners will pay for wrap around turn signals. It's a JDM / EDM conversion that can cost close to a thousand bucks!
I like my wrap around corners!
