No Tether Anchor_1999 Year

Hello,

I was about to upgrade my child's car seat, but I discovered that my 1999 Corolla does not have Tether Anchors to hook his booster seat.

Please advise!!!

Thank you in advance,
ksman

my 1996 camry doesnt either. you have to use the seat belt and pull it all the way out so it locks in place. there should be a diagram on the back of the booster that shows how the belt has to be routed through.

Well this is the CAMRY forum, but I would think Corolla is the same as Camry for this. I had to buy the top tether anchors at the stealership. I think they were around $10 each. Then bolt them into the top deck and that was all there was to it. The anchor points were already there and threaded.

How I did it?

Drilled a hole STRAIGHT up from below as a pilot point. Took pocket knife and started wiggling it in the hole from topside making it gradually large until it was as large a diameter as the cylinder. You have to make the hole big enough to accomodate that cylinder or you will break the deck trying to bolt it down.

The center one was easier than the ones on the sides. I like putting the seat in the center anyhow if you can, safer for side impacts. What seat do you have or are looking at? If you have older child look at Britax Frontier 85. To my mind this offers a bit more protection than most.
