4th Generation 2000 Camry Strut Replacement.

Hi guys,

I have Tokico blues on my 2000 camry I4 and they all appear to be leaking so I am getting them replaced with another set of Tokico's. I searched the forum but couldn't find a definitive answer to the following so I'm asking here.

1. My boots are torn. Are the KYB SB101's a good replacement or are they crap?

2. Should I replace the strut mounts as well? I've never had that done. I have an annoying rattle coming from the front end and I *think* it's my mounts. If so, which mounts should I go with?

3. Do I need an alignment afterwards?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Not Sure..

Yes, that's always a good idea

3. Do I need an alignment afterwards?

Yes, Its a good idea to get an alignment. You can get the strut aligned almost where it needs to be so you wont have major tire wear, but its always a good idea to get it perfect so there is definitely no problems later down the road with quick wear.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Thank you for the response. Can anyone recommend a good replacement brand of boots and struts please? A specific part number that worked well for you would be even better.

Thanks.

Can you get warranty (free) replacements for those Tokico blues? It's recommended that mounts be replaced with struts, along with worn rubber parts.

However, before you buy individual items, check out the Monroe QuickStrut with Sensatrac strut (lifetime warranty). Some members like it. Easy to install and at $125+shipping (rockauto) the price is right.

Thanks for the headsup on the Monroes. Yeah, I learned about those recently but like you mentioned, I am trying to claim the warranty on my Tokicos. Hopefully that goes well. I am going to try the KYB boots and look for some OEM mounts.

Can anyone recommend a place online to get a good deal on OEM mounts?
