real quick question...i've been searching but can't find what i want to find because i dont know what its called....but i need some help...does anyone know the name of the wires that goes into the distributor...not the spark plug wires, but the wires that goes into the cap itself....i know it is a bit unclear, but i believe i have a bad wire that is causing my car to idle frequently...i want to replace that wire but dont know the name of it...i will post pic if needed, but in class atm...thanks and happy st pat. days..
this is the wire that i needed to know, its the plug with the spirally thingy....seen from this pic
this is where it leads to, which is where the distributor is...
that wire is faulty... in the middle of the wire it is split open, i just electric tape the dang thing...you can see my crappy taping work in this pic in the bottom left..

I found this diagram for a 93 Camry.
There are a couple different engine types so I'm not sure I grabbed the right diagram.
If the wire that your looking for is the one with the orange box around it,
then it is called the "Resistive Coil Cord". I hope this helps.

hmmmm...from the looks of the diagram it looks different from the actual picture...but it could possibly be it..im not sure though...thanks for looking man...anyone else can help out on this one??
I can take another look at the parts diagrams.
How about some more info on the car so I can zero in on the right diagram.
What body type ( mcv10, sxv10, or vcv10) ?
Sedan, coupe, or wagon ?
Engine type ( 5SFE or 1MZFE ) ?
Automatic or manual ?
Yes, that's the primary wire. It carries the high voltage from the coil to the disty which then routes it to the appropriate spark plug. So it's pretty much just like a spark plug wire without the plug boot on it. When you buy a set of spark plug wires, it'll come with the set. See this picture of an NGK plug wire set from rockauto.com. NGK part #8129. If yours haven't been replaced in a while, I highly recommend you replace the whole set.

i think u got the right diagram...my car is a v6 3vzfe, sedan, auto, not sure of body type..lol..
can i buy this part separate....i'm a college student and money is tight, so i wanna just get the wire itself if possible...so it is called "the primary wire?"....is there more to it??...like distributor primary wire??...

This one has one for sale here but I imagine that most places will have it in stock. Since this one costs 11.80 (prob more if you buy it at a dealership), I would replace all of them if they are all stock. Amazon has the NGKs for 62.77 and Rockauto has it for 57.79+ship.
Yeah, they should know what it is if you tell 'em it's the high voltage wire going from the coil to the distributor. Don't go cheap on it though. I once tried a set of Autozone's store brand wires, and they were crap! They started failing (the rough idle returned) after only 12k miles or so. I put another set on it under their "lifetime" warranty, and they lasted about the same.
