I've got a 94 Toyota Camry LE, 2.2 motor. It won't start without manually choking it @ the EFI injection when it's cold. And when it's running, if you give it too much gas (especially if going uphill), it tries to (and sometimes does) die. We've had 3 mechanics look at it - none have done any testing really, except for timing (which is right on) but they're kind of stumped.

We've replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, spark module, & checked the timing. Any other ideas?

is there a check light?

when at idle how does it run?

what do you mean by manually choking?

No, there's no check lights.

It runs fine at idle.

In order to start it when the engine is cold you have to remove the hose going to the EFI intake from the air filter box & have someone put their hand/piece of hard plastic over the EFI intake & turn the key until it tries to start, then remove the hand/plastic & it starts.
