3rd Generation Speedometer?

My old cluster shorted out, and I bought one from a Camry with 218k miles.

The problem is that my friend was playing with the old one and pulled the needle out of the speedometer, and it messed it up

I need to put the old speedo back in since my car only has 107k. How can I recalibrate the old speedo so i can put it into the other cluster?

the only way I know to do it is to roll the numbers by hand. If you try to take the speedometer apart, the numbers will spread apart leaving a gap. Upon inspection, you will fail because they will know you tampered with the cluster. You can always find a camry with around the same mileage. Maybe a small amount more, and just install that.

How did he get the speedo needle off? Did it break the Metal post? Or just removed the needle? If the post is still there, just push the needle back on.

You talking about the speedo or the odo? The speedo is easy to calibrate if you have a GPS. The odometer, much harder to change the reading, but it can be done.

yeah thats the most efficient way to calibrate it. just remove the housing and install the cluster partially. Snap the surrounding in and keep the needle off. Once you get crusing .. Say 10 miles per hr on the GPS, ease the needle back on at 10MPH. stop. Retest at a faster speed. That's what I did on my car anyways

He pulled it off and stuck it in a different position. It jumps to 110mph when the ignition is turned on. He messed up the tach too on the old cluster but the tach isnt really that important.

How hard would it be to just remove and replace the odometer?

I'm going to hurt you. Watch my video series on cluster tech (link in sig). YES, you can swap speedos and tachs around. They just have to be from the same engined car.

I know that. My question is how to swap the actual odometer over to the 218k speedo. The one that currently reads 107 is reading too fast and I don'tknow how to calibrate it and I don't have a gps.
