Question switch tires because of age?

I have a 93 Camry 4 cyl with Michelin tires from Costco bought in 2002. The car has gone maybe 10K since these tires were mounted. The car is garaged so no cracking on the sidewalls and good tread showing. I can get my hands on some 15 inch rims and tires from another Camry that is being junked. The 15 inch tires were manufactured in 2010, but are a cheap brand, tread looks brand new. The wheels have alot of brake dust. Should I swap tires and wheels because of the age of my 14 inch tires?

Michelin tires are known to last much longer due too its high quality but I have seen tires fall apart due to age and heat in a few years. Here's a video about aged tires by 20/20.

As for the 15" wheels, are they alloys? Why not upgrade and when you say the 15" tires are cheap; how are they? Are they just generic "steel belt radials".

Check for signs of dry rot or other rubber age. If you see any, toss them. If not, you're fine.

Question

so one more question regarding this wheel/ tire exchange. The 15 inch tires are "Prime Well", a Firestone cheap brand made in 2010. My Michelin are 2002, but look good. The car I'm getting the 15 inch wheels from is a XLE 6 cyl. Can I put 14 inch wheels on the 6cyl Camry? The XLE 6cyl will be towed to the junkyard. I just don't want to get the tow company mad at me if the 14 inch wheel don't roll on the XLE when going to the junkyard.

High quality dynamic rubber parts are usually made with beads of lubricant and waxes that will rupture with use and help keep the rubber from drying out and cracking.

The past 9 years, you are unsure of where and how the tires were stored. Ozone (oxidizes) degrades and 'dries out' rubber so it will be prone to cracking soon after you use it.

The 14's wont work with a v6. Been there done that.

Some wreckers will be cool with just dragging the car onto the truck. I would call ahead though.

Primewell tires are manufactured by a Chinese tire company called GITI. They are not made by Firestone like many will say. I had the Primewell PS830 on my Camry and got rid of them in a week. I spun out twice and rides like crap. The PS850 are installed on my father's minivan and dose okay, but the sidewall are cracking in a year already. They are good budget tires that meets all DOT standard but that is it.
