Talking Thule Fairing Sizes

Hi, New to Toyota Nation here. I know there are plenty of threads out there about Thule roof racks and fairings, and haven't found my answer. I'm sorry for the repeat:

Thule recommends a 38" fairing for my 1999 Camry with the 480 Traverse Foot Pack. I figured a 44" would look better since the roof width is around 46" or so. My biggest concern is if the clips of the fairing would fit within the foot packs. Instructions require 38" between footpacks. Was someone able to measure the distance between the outer clips of the fairing?

I don't want to get one off ebay to find out I can't attach the outer clips to the bar b/c they interfere with the foot packs.

Thank you in advance! and sorry for bring this up again.

Great! Thanks a lot. I figured since by eyeballing, I'd give it 5 or so inches from the edges, so I'd hope the outer clips fit.

Also, when you installed the foot clips, did they go around the rubber trim of the door, or did you go underneath? There are no words in this instruction manual, and not sure how to go about this installation. I feel if they go around the rubber trim, then there is metal-door frame contact, and I don't want to scratch up the inside of the door frame. Thanks
