Figuring out my dipstick...

I bought the 93 Camry XLE v6 last week. Took it into a Valvoline express lube the next day and had the oil changed. They also check the other fluids as well. I got the car home and took a look under the hood. That's when I noticed that the Transmission dipstick was sticking out about 2-3 inches. Tried and tried but couldn't get the sum bit back down into the tube. Goes all the way in except for the last 2-3 inches. It's like there is some sort of obstruction. Of course the dick heads at Valvoline made no mention of it to me while I was there and I they'll swear that all was good when the car left their shop I'm sure.

Anybody else have similar issues along these lines?

Where do I begin so far as trouble shooting what's going on with this thing. I don't have a bore scope but sure wish that I did.

Did you try taking it out and rotating it around 180 degrees?

My transmission dipstick is really funky. I have to use a bit of force to get it in there correctly.

If rotating the dipstick 180 degrees as Cris Crash suggested doesn't work, take your car over to the Toyota dealer's part department and see if they have a new (correct) dipstick to compare your dipstick to. If you find out you have the wrong dipstick, and you are sure it wasn't this way when you brought the car in for the oil change; then you can either take the car back to the oil change place and argue with them or bite the bullet and pay for the new dipstick yourself.

Good luck.

Yep.. no dice. Tried all the obvious approaches without any luck.

I guess I'll hit the local pick and pull this friday if the weather is nice. I need a few other items as well.
