3rd Generation Biggest 16" tire on a Gen 3 Camry?

The 93 Camry XLE v6 that I got off craigs list this past week is in need of a new set of tires. The current wheels are alloy 15" wheels. According to TireDirect.com I can go to a plus size and fit a 215/60/16 tire onto a 16" wheel without issue. Well it just so happens that I've got a set of nice Michillin all weather tires but they're 225/60/16 tires.

Anybody out there running around on a 225/60/16? It's only a difference of 10mm... 1cm. If these michillins will work I wouldn't mind purchasing a set of 16 inch wheels vs purchasing a set of 15" tires.

Let's hear from those in the know. Which direction would you go considering the above info.

my summer tires are 225/50r17

these are on the stock se 2007 camry rims, now my stock steel rims (15") widest is 215 anything more it will rub the strut and with the 16" from my supra

now just buy a set of 10mm spacers and your fine, it all in the off set of the rim

Your problem, really is not going to be with how wide of a tire can you put on. (sidewall clearance issue) Its going to be with how TALL of a tire can you put on. Go out and stick your finger between the bottom of the strut spring supports on the car, and your current tires. That aught to tell you something about how tall of a tire the car can take.
