1999 Camry struts (OEM or Monroe Quick-strut complete?)

I have a Camry I have had since it had 30k on it and it now has 287k. I want to do struts all the way around, and I usually use nothing but OEM parts, however I am considering these Monroe Quick-struts that come with the bearing plate and new springs. I would like something quality and I am concerned with the amount of miles I have, my coil springs may be a little weak. The other concern is when I buy OEM struts, I only get the strut and then I still have my original worn out strut mounts/bearing plates. If I were to replace all these parts OEM, the cost would be nearly double the Monroe price and I am willing to do that, but only if the quality is far superior to the Monroe product. The car currently has the original struts and springs. What are the opinions on the Monroe Quick-strut assemblies? Thanks

Many have used them and like them. I put Monroes (not quick struts, though) on the front my Camry a few thousand miles ago, and on the rear a few years ago. I like 'em. The rears are holding up fine; can't say anything about the fronts because they're still nearly new.

I didn't replace my springs because they weren't showing any signs of needing to be replaced. The rubber seats, top & bottom, were pretty far gone, so it's a good idea to replace them if not going with quick struts.

My original struts were high miler's like yours; when I pulled them they were still holding their gas charge and weren't leaking or anything. But the car still rode decent. It's quite a bit better now, not so "nervous" handling-wise when going over ripply pavement at freeway speeds.

I installed Monroe Quick-struts on the front end of my 95 Camry(247k miles) a few months ago. I am very pleased so far. Like you, I was worried that my coil springs had sagged over the years, plus I had a bad bearing and suspect mounts, so I decided to replace the entire unit. They are an absolute breeze to install. They were very firm at first, but they loosen up a bit at they settle in. Would definitely recommend.

Thanks Dave. Have you heard anything about long term reliability on them?

I have Monroe Quick Struts in front of both cars (2.2L & 3.0L), they are very good IMO. too early to review, only a few hundred miles on each, but I like them.
