99 Camry Wrong Front Engine Mount?

All-

I had my engine replaced a while back, and I think they used the wrong front engine mount.

The engine seems too high. The exhaust manifold cover burned the hood insulation, the EGR valve is crammed next to the firewall (see pic), etc.

Oreily's said there are two different mounts for this car, one for car made in Japan, the other for car in U.S.

Is one mount taller than the other? Could my mechanic have used the wrong mount?

Thanks.

Very possible. Look for a part number and cross-reference it

I know for a FACT that the auto mounts will make the engine higher than manual mounts. Are you auto or manual?

J vin mounts MIGHT be higher than 4t vin mounts, maybe for a weight difference.

Cash-

Thanks for the response. Your comment sparked something.

The car is an automatic, but the engine they used for the replacement came from a manual transmission car.

I should probably get a mount for a manual transmission car, right?

Do you think I'll need a new bracket, too?

Thanks for your help.

i know on the 3rd generation camry the difference between the manual and the automatic is the following:

1. Manual is a solid mount
2. Automatic is a Hydraulic mount

The manual and automatic mounts are the same height though. No difference there.

on the 4th gen, this may not be the case

It's a 99 Camry.

Is that 3rd or 4th generation?

a 99 is a 4th gen. What happens a lot of times is the company will re-use design ideas and parts on the newer models. So even though yours is a 4th generation camry, the concepts, some parts, and the design aspect of the motor are very similar if not the same.

Thanks adalex.

From your pictures, I can tell my EGR valve is jammed against the firewall. In fact, it can't be removed without removing the front engine mount and lowering the engine.

I think something is fishy with the mount or the engine mount bracket, or both.

Thanks again for the pictures.
