Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So Im sick of hearing my friends trash talk camrys, I just got my SE V6 and it prettymuch hands it to them, I really need a bunch of the wicked camry owners on here to come and show them what a real car is, they just always say camrys are grocery getters and dont belong in the racing world. Ill seriously help pay for gas to come to one of my meets to show them whats up with camrys cuz i cant build mine a whole lot right now, just spent a bunch of money making it run solid, Im doin free mods right now. what say you TN, come show these VW, Honda and Nissan punks whats up?

Don't feed the fuel for the haters. Welcome to the camry world, everyone else hates you now. You'll never be taken seriously until you can show up the haters. So until then, KEEP MODDING!
Ask your friends, "Can your Integra / Camaro / Mustang / Prelude / Eclipse... etc. tow a boat?"
Welcome to the Camry world. It's not a super fast car, although it is not slow. It is very roomy, reliable, quiet, comfortable, and even luxurious in many cases.
By the way, on the CRX. I owned a super clean second owner '89 si for five years. Paid $1,800, added 50k miles, and sold it for $3,200. Great little car that is getting hard to find in good condition.

Haha so true, although I wouldn't tow a boat with this, I'm sure it can.
Thanks on the CRX, it's in alright condition, needs a refresh paintjob and some body work, other then that it's a solid awesome car they are getting hard to find a true Si in good condition.

Yup, I've noticed that. Same with Volvos, I love em, I know how fast a slightly modded 85 242 turbo is but the whole world gawks at em, but that's why I like camrys, unique and the look on people's face is priceless when they get it handed to them by a camry.
I like what you've done with yours, keep up the good work. I wish I could find more devout camry fans around here.

I'm assuming you looked at my cardomain. I appreciate the praise, but I'm just saying that hasn't been updated in probably 6 months haha. The cars have progressed so much since then, I just can't post pictures until ALL projects are finished
lol now that you own a camry, here's a secret - haters gonna hate.
I have a 93 V6 5mt, it's pretty damn fast - Last rally I went to, I spanked my friends riding in a miata 6-ways to sunday, and to top it off, I had a slipping clutch (since fixed).
Every time I beat one of them at the strip, or on the track, they claim "oh, conditions, blah blah, car wasn't running right, etc...". Meanwhile, when they beat you, expect them to laugh at the camry for being present among such "high performance" cars.
On the upside though, insurance on a camry is dirt cheap, and they're practically invisible to police speedtraps plus, you cant find a better built ride for the money. Enjoy the positives, and just rub it in their faces when you beat them ("Son, you just got your ass handed to you by my grandma-car!"). not to mention the fact that you can outaccelerate a civic while towing a boat and carrying 4 people not to mention that the 3vz can crank up to 350 hp on stock internals if you boost it
Welcome to the club

Need performance parts?
Shoot me a PM, I'll see what I can do
I too have a 93 v6. Guess I lucked out. I wasn't aiming for the 3vz-fe motor but that's what I landed. I'm reading all sorts of rave reviews about how bullet proof the motor is and how easy it is to add power to them while not being in danger of venting the block.
I have a Supercharged ride already that will lay the smack down on damn near any car it comes across. All but the fastest cars on the street don't stand a chance unless they're layin down < 12 second quarter miles then my other ride will destroy them entirely. But that's another story.
My current project is now this 93 Camry XLE.
How much power can the stock Auto Tranny handle? Cause that's how much NOS I want to take the motor to. Once thats done I'd be glad to show up with the OP and lay the smack down on those fools talkin all that smack.

But where is Grass Valley located?

haha I would suggest swapping to a 5 speed first before Juicing. GV is in Cali, nor cal near Sac, a bit outta your area I'd say. but yes the 3VZ-FE is a bulletproof motor. Im already running timing and AFM mods with no ping, and lots of power . this car is scary sometimes how fast it goes, not to mention besides the borla exhaust and free tuning, its stock.
Haters; "straight racing is boring"
V6 Camrys owners; "yeah thats what people with slow cars say"

I'ts funny how so many sporty car enthusiasts insist on calling Camry's simple grocery getters. I mean honestly, if you have a V-6 model, you have a car with a 24V, 4cam engine with a variable induction system, yamaha designed heads begging to be P&P'd, all independant suspension, 4 wheel discs, opt ABS, available 5sp. Really all thats missing is the standard tuner stuff to turn it into a serious sport sedan thats a class above the junky little noise boxes that get the most attention.

Alright for sure, just tell me where and when, I've been wanting to go to some meets, chill with some fellow camry owners and maybe even learn a thing or two.
I just had my friend try telling me that my engine had 180 hp and 176ftlb torque, and that it's peak started and died from 4400rpms and 5300rpms. I called him an idiot and said do some research mr VR6.

i think there is that grocery-getter stigma attached to the camry because 90% of camry owners do just that with them. plus i think im the only camry owner in my area under 50 years old.
