4th Generation Back to soon!!! Misfiring problems

Just got back from vatozone because a check engine light came on for my mom today and the car was misfiring at idle and when you were cruising. I got codes p300 and p301 which said cylinder number 2 was misfiring and there was a random misfire. So I bought some new ngk platinum spark plugs and no new wires because I just put on ngk wires 26k ago. The spark plugs in the engine were also new 26k ago and they were denso iridium power's. Is there anything else you guys think I should look at. I looked for loose vacuum lines but I saw none. It also seem when you got on the throttle that it started to smooth up but I still felt a slight miss.

Swap wires around to see if the misfire moves. Could be injector/coil. If#2 plug looks different then the rest then its probally not getting fuel or not burning fuel off.

random misfire points to either air or fuel delivery problem, however I would leave it for later and make focus on P0301, misfire code for cylinder #1.

if new spark plug do not help (NGK Laser Platinum? they are awesome plugs that can last up to 90-120k miles), see if you have any leaks around cylinder #1.
it could be a serious oil leak from valve cover, it could be leaky fuel injector grommet, etc.

random misfire sounds like vacuum leak (air delivery problem) or maybe your fuel injector is dirty on cylinder #1 and causing a misfire.

also get 24oz bottle of Chevron Techron concentrate from autozone or advanc auto and pour it all at once once into the fuel tank. drive the car and see if it improves.

also when was the last time the air filter and fuel filter were replaced?

any chance you could read OBD2 live monitoring for fuel trims, AFR/oxygen sensor output and such? cheapest way to do this is a OBD2 scanner software, interface from ebay and a PC laptop.

Changed the spark plugs and it all went away except number 2's gap was to close for it to provide adequate spark thanks carsus/fenixus.

Blame this problem on whoever put the plugs in 26K ago. They didn't check the gap. Glad your problem was an easy one to fix.
