3rd Generation EGR system

Hi there. I was checking the egr system in my 92 5sfe camry and surprisingly the VSV is missing. Does this affect performance or its just environment related? thank you

VSV is there. It is located on the passenger side of the motor. Its bolted at the bottom of the Intake Manifold. Has 1 electrical connector going to it, and two vacuum lines running to it. One from the EGR Modulator, and the other from the EGR Valve.

It is related to emissions, but the VSV is also linked to the computer and controls when the EGR Valve opens and closes via Vacuum pressure. If the VSV Is missing, the EGR will remain closed on a cold start up causing your car to shake violently and possibly stall.

Are any of your vacuum lines on the intake manifold plugged? If not, your VSV is still hooked up

3rd Generation couldnt find it

i couldnt find it. is there a picture of the exact location of it? According to the diagram sticker under the hood, the vacuum hoses are not connected the right way. The P port on the intake is blocked with a screw because the top part of the bvsv is broken. Im guessing the VSV is not present because the Q port on the EGR modulator is connected directly to the EGR valve. its like someone has bypassed it. If i fix this whole mess, am i getting better mpg or better idle or something like that? is it worth it?

it's always a good idea to fix a problem like that. Especially if you want the car to run correctly.

Heres a picture of the location.. as you can see its on the lower side of the Intake Manifold:

Here is a Write up I did on Vacuum routing too:

Yeah its a retarded location. My suggestion to you is to relocate it to an easier location. Such as where the Wiring harness runs inside the car on the passenger side. That's where mine is now on my 95

Man, all that labelling work is pure bad ass! I'm sure I will have to use it as a reference guide down the road. Thanks ahead of time!

No problem

The reason I made that was because the hood vacuum routing picture can be confusing to some people. If you can actually see What the lines and parts look like and the locations, it sometimes help people determine the correct way of routing it!
