Help me swap parts into my new doorshell please

************UPDATE****** I went ahead and got a new doorshell and now I need help swapping parts

So I picked up a nice 99 Camry recently. Mechanically the car is solid but the body has seen better days. I would like to use this car develop some paint and body skills. If it all goes south I'll just take the car to get resprayed. I would like to start out with the ugly scare project first.

RUST

I got the molding peeled off today. The clips seem to be merely to hold it straight and are not much of a fastener. I know a new door is technically what I should do but I want to use this as my excuse to learn a little auto paint and body. If I screw it up then I'll go with a new door but for now this is my project. I did a little searching and ordered the following

KBS System Sampler :: GLOSS BLACK :: Stop Rust Paint Kit

This was before I new how bad the rust really was. Now it looks liek I may need to reinforce it from the back with something. Possibly fiberglass.

Here are some pictures of what I am dealing with.

This is right after I peeled the molding off

This is after I pulled away all of the bubbling paint

Yeahhhh, that's NOT repairable. Replace the door.

You were right right off the start. New Door. BUT if you would like another option what I would recommend is to cut out the rust and a little each because rust is like cancer. If you don't get it all it continues to spread. Then weld in a new piece of metal.

Welding in new metal and shaping it is gonna take SO MUCH more time and money than buying a new door. Plus, if not done correctly, the rust will continue to spread. Seriously though... car-part.com or a junkyard.

Sand all the bubbled off junk paint off and rust. Go as far as you need to reach health paint and metal. Then hit up home depot and get some primer and black gloss in rattle cans. If you spend enough time it'll look good and last a while.

Theres no other way to really fix that other then sanding and painting. Bondo and fiberglass arent for stuff like that. Bondo on moving parts (doors, tailgates, trunks etc) isnt a good idea as there's a good chance itll just fall off.

There is no way you can fix that properly for less than the price of a decent, used door. Replace it.

as a temporary fix, use a wire wheel and grind off all of the rust. use bondo to make it smooth and patch the hole. spray paint the area and blend to the rest of the paint.

when i had my old suburban, there was more bondo than sheet metal.

Thanks that is kind of what I am looking for but with a little more detail. Do you have any links on for a step by step process of how to properly do this?

its easy to do. i did a quick search on youtube and came across this video which is a basic how to:

you can search for either "bondo" (which is a brand name) or "body filler".

I got lucky and found a black door shell nearby for $100! Now I just have to swap the guts. Are there any good links or documentation I can follow that will help me with this? I'll start a new thread now that I have changed direction.

Help me swap my door components on to the new door please

Well after an overwhelming consensus that my old rusted door was not salvageable I started poking around. This morning I got luck and found a scrap yard with a black door shell in excellent shape for $100.

Now I face the challenge of swapping over ALL of the components such as window, regulator door locks etc. into this new empty shell. Before I dig in I have a few questions.

Is a particular order this should be done in?
Are there any super fragile parts that have to be removed a certain way?
Are there any non reusable parts?
Are there any tricks I should know to make things easier to swapping into the new shell?
Can anybody post or send me some documentation to help me with this?

Thanks guys!
