Water Pump: Should i buy one with or without the housing

I'm planning on changing a timing belt in the next few weeks and i'm getting all of the parts together. I just discovered that you can guy a water pump with the housing or without the housing. I'm reading that it is easier just to change the pump without changing the housing. I just wanted to get some feedback from members wether i should just change the water pump and leave the housing as is.

See here for a link to both water pumps with and without housing

Thanks!
Tom

Probably doesn't matter much either way. In my case I bought a kit that included the housing just because for some strange reason it was something like $50 less than the same kit without--go figure. It wasn't difficult to install, so go ahead and get either one, you'll be fine.

No need to replace the housing, but do replace the o-rings and gaskets between the housing and block/bypass pipe. The Aisin pump you listed should come with them. Easy.

The unit with the housing is much easier to deal with, because you don't have to re-use the old housing, which means removing the old pump and cleaning off the surface. But if you're doing a water pump job, why not just get a timing belt kit and do everything at the same time? This kit has everything you need including the water pump with housing. The only thing it does not come with is the oil pump gasket and seal, which you may or may not need to replace.

edit - that seller shows different shipping prices to Canada for what appears to be the identical kit, this one for example shows shipping at half the cost.

Im completely with Ghettosled, I didnt do it to mine either, but agree with the rest on replacing your gaskets which should come with your kit.
