2001 LE very intermittent window problem

2001 Camry LE 2.2L...very very intermittently the driver's side power window will freeze maybe midway through rolling down....and then it will not respond at all. Lasts a few minutes....I turn the engine off then on again a couple of times and then as suddenly as it stopped it will start working again with no problems. It does seem though that even when it works it is slower than I would expect rolling up or down. Any thoughts? Besides some impossible to find electrical issue with a crimped wire somewhere....could it just be the window motor itself? Thanks for any help

Most common issue is a break in the wire inside of the rubber tube/boot that connects the door to the car. Now, what can be really strange is that the wire can actually start to break without the insulation actually showing signs of the wiring breaking. It sounds like that may be the issue.

I was afraid of that. I'll poke around in there when I have some time...maybe it'll be fairly obvious. I should mention I've already replaced the switch assembly itself....no change to the problem. Thanks

I had same exact problem, kept getting stuck and hitting the button repeatedly didn't help. Had to wait and try again later. Replaced the motor with a rebuilt one from Kragen. Had to swap the connector though as the one they gave me just had bare wire ends. Returned dead motor for core charge don't forget that.

The real problem was the motor, but I went ahead and replaced the regulator mechanism while I was in there anyways.
