sorry if this has been asked before but what should the tire pressure be in my 94 camry? i see a sticker in the glove box that says 29 psi but that seems kinda low now. i care about gas mileage and tire life more then ride quality btw. don't want the tires to wear uneven too.

29 psi does sound too low. Firestone shows it should be at 32. I run my gen 4 at 35-37 psi; that gaves me the best tread wear and ride on 205/65-15 tire. Every tire and vehicle is different and you might have to play around with it. Start at 32 and work up or down but don't excess the sidewall max pressure.
Sticker on my car says 30psi, but I usually put ~33psi. What is your gas mileage now?
haven't really kept track since still trying to get stuff fixed. got gaskets and stuff replaced but it is leaking oil onto exhaust and going to get that fixed before worry about other stuff. i do know i put $35 in when gas was $3.70. got around 3/4 tank and drove 276 miles and had around 1/4 tank. though the gas gauge might be a little off maybe too because it moves real slow when i get gas. take at least a couple min for it to read right when you get gas. i had struts put on and aliment done and it was going to the right some so checked the tire pressure at walmart and they put it at 29 psi. don't know what it was at maybe 35. it wasn't tire pressure btw. going to have aliment checked again and i really think one of the struts was put on wrong. front left one is not in the middle when you look at it under the hood.
yeah yuko 29 does seem low but that is what the sticker says in the glove box.
these are my tires BTW. they are like new but from a junk yard.
The tires look good with no crack or odd wear. How many miles you put on them?
I think manufactures are trying to make their vehicles more fuel efficient. Higher tire pressure = lower rolling-resistance. Ride comfort must have been first on the list as it was set at 29 psi. Then they move from 30 to 32 psi, and the new Camry are at 34 psi. (or maybe because tires got wider over time)

not sure before i got it but i would say maybe 3 or 400 miles. can't wait to get this car fixed and actually start on looks.
What engine do you have? Have you replaced the valve cover gasket and the dist o-ring? What do you mean your front left strut is not in the middle?
Yeah, the fuel indicator isnt all too precise. Uphill and downhill roads really make the needle fluctuate a lot. What I like to do is to start on a full tank (note mileage), then pump when I need to. I can subtract how many miles I went divided by the gallons delivered.
I would go with the car specs for the tire pressure, but work your way up just to pinch out a bit more gas efficiency. In my experience, 30psi is pretty average so 29 is not far off.

ok thanks.
this is my post on my car. pictures of car and back left window motor trouble
i have the 5sfe engine. got the oil pump gasket o ring, valve cover gasket and every other gasket done but the real gasket and distribtor o ring. guy that did it mgiht ahve not done stuff right. took it because it was keaning oil and all he did was tighten the nuts on the valve cover and they were loose every time too. i have no idea where it is comming from but going too get it fixed. same guy put the timing belt on 3 teeth off too and when i took it back first thing he did was adjsut the distribtor even though there was nothign wrong with that before. i don't think it is where it should still since it seems like it might idel jsut a little bit low maybe. idle is little below 800 rpm and 1000 rpm when ac is on. he put the struts on and when you look in the top of where the struts are it is not in the center. it is off center. don't think they were put together right maybe. it also seems to stick when you go from turning left to straight sometimes. he is never doing anything again even if he did make some parts that are on the car.

Do you know where the oil is leaking from? Taking some pictures will help, that way ppl can tell you whats leaking so you don't need to do everything again. Take pictures of the struts or how they look off center.
For the gaskets, I wouldn't bother and just do them myself. Dist o-ring was one of the first things I did. I dont know what the 'real gasket' is. Yeah, the valve cover nuts will be loose the first time around after you put the valve cover gasket in. So you have to retorque them to 17ft-lbs. Also, did he put the seal packing in when he did the valve cover gasket? PM me if you need a help on how to do these yourself.

will get pictures when i can. just have this bad phone camera so not that good. i don't know how to do stuff on cars so that is why had someone else do it. i have no idea if it is torqued right or what the seal packing is or if it was put in. the rear gasket is the one that goes around where the transmission is. might have a different name. i just know it is hard to change and not cheap. i don't know what is leaking but i can see it dripping onto the wire mesh exhaust under the car. thanks.

I think its time to fire this guy and let someone else do the work. My guess is even though he put in the valve cover gasket, he tightened the nuts too tight so that the gasket would be squashed, but this is just my guess.
Please, Please, Please check your fluid levels to 1) see what is leaking and 2) so you can top off the fluids. This particular engine is finicky about having too little oil. Same deal with the transmission.
yeah, my solara door sticker also says to pump tires (cold) at 29psi, but honestly both our cars start moving like small tanks when I do that, so I usually put 32-33psi in Summer and around 35-36psi in Winter.
since it's hard to pump tires when they are cold (one must drive to gas station to do that and then tires are no longer cold), so I pump them to 40psi when tire is warm and it lands at 35psi (cold)

well he is not working on it now. so you are saying too tight is bad then? i am checking them. the oil seems to not be getting to low even how much it is leaking. after i got the ca ri was told it was sitting for a while like a year or more. i some reason didn't check the oil and after driving it around city there a little (highest speed limit was 35MPH) niticed something off and stopped at walmart and checked oil and there was nothing on the dipstick. i added 2 quarts of oil to get it at the full. stuff will get done eventually i guess.
didn't take pictures because it has been raining today. going to get stuff done next few weeks when i go to my moms. hopefully it is something easy and not going to cost a lot.
yea i am going to put more air in the tires i guess. it just don't feel right with that much air. guess will try 32 then more later. how is your tire wear fenixus? is there any uneven wear using different pressures? yeah it is hard to get cold pressure when you don't have a air pump at home.

curious but why do you have two different size tires? in one of the pics you have
P185/75R14 and the other you have P195/70R14?
because that is what could be found at the junkyard. they came off 2 different cars but were like new with the nub things on them still. the mrx plus IV are on the front and the advanced are on the back. think will switch them since the wider ones should be on the back i think maybe.
