a crack in 98 camry air intake hose

Hi guys,

I just found that there is a long crack in the air intake hose. What kind of problem would it cause to the car?

Can I just seal it with some sealant? Or how would I to repair it?

For 4-cyl suck dirt and cause more wear in the engine. For 6-cyl with a mass air flow sensor upstream, it can cause unmetered air and dirt to enter.

Not sure how well the sealant holds over time. Maybe get a new hose from an online dealer?

^ I have to agree. That intake hose needs to be replaced. As a temporary fix you can use some duct tape, but as i said, that is a temporary fix. Replace the hose. Check a few local auto parts stores to see if they sell a replacement. If so, it wil be a lot cheaper than the dealer.
