drive camry with remote starter ?

I just installed prestige 902 remote starter on my 99 camry.

When I start the car with a remote start for warming up, do I have to take a step on brake and start the engine with the key again?

or it is just ok to drive by just inserting the key?

It seems like that I don't have to turn off the car for driving, just inserting the key and starting driving..

The manual doesn't say about this so If you have a remote start, how do you drive with your remote start?

thank you for your replies

I think all you have to do is to insert the key and turn it to ON position (2 clicks) and you are good to go. at least my starter worked for me like that in past, I no longer have it though.

It depends on the system really. I would read your owners manual. My system requires that if I don't want to restart the car, I put the key, turn in to "ON" and depress the brake pedal.

Smilecow, I have a Prestige 997c, however yours may differ. After remote starting my camry, I must insert the key and turn to the on position as if im starting(cranking) the car. Then I have to press the brakes,( and the car remains on while i do this). After this I can just drive off. No restarting required.

If I just insert the key and press the brakes, the car turns off automatically.( Then I have to manually restart). Only after auto-starting you can turn the ignition to ON position, the system protects the starter from overcranking that one time.

that's my point as there was a difference on my system (forgot the name, something popular that doesn't exist under it name anymore anyways).
when you pressed the brake (e.g. to shift it out of Park) before inserting the key and turning 2 clicks the engine was shutting down.

not much of a difference after all

As others have stated, simply insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position. Then depress the brake pedal. No need to restart the car.

I was told that trying to restart the car while it was already running could grind your starter or flex plate up. I never tried this, so I do not know if it's for certain or not, but I wouldn't risk it.

I actually tried starting again the already running car once or twice (was sleepy in morning).
The grinding noise is scary but nothing bad happened really ... thankfully

For my remote starter, if I want to keep the car running (which means I started it and did not turn it off through remote), all I have to do is insert the key, turn it to ON position, step on the brakes, if I step onto the brakes without turning the key to ON position, it will shut off, so it seems like most of the remote starter works the same way.
