Power steering question.

Well yesterday I took my 95 camry v6 to shop to have tuneup and knock sensor put on. they got done , say take for a test drive see how it runs , and i get it and steering is stiff. long story short Ill be back in the morning but, It was steering fine when i brought it in , and steerinf fine when they test drove before starting the work. Dude said he saw some vacuum lines that didnt appear to be connected, and that could be it, If not it could be pump.... Now i do notice when i give it gas, the steering helps (could be pump) But i find it strange that it starts acting up right after having somebody work on it. Any clues? are there vaccum lines that help the steering? It does have fluid, but he did add A small about of fluid to the power steering reservoir (unfortunately it was ps fluid and not atv, but it wasnt much so we will see.

Any clues? are there vaccum lines that help the steering? if so where should i start looking?

There is a small vaccuum switching valve that idles the engine up to assist the power steering system, I believe it is called the power steering VSC (vehical speed control), and yes it uses vacuum lines and would be disturbed to access the knock sensors.

power steering pump replacement ?????

Hi, I still have the 95 camry v6 i had a full tuneup done maybe 2-3 weeks ago, car steered fine on the way there, mechanic even drove it before doing work on it, and had no problems with steering. After having plugs , coil boots , pcv valve, air filter, replaced along with having a knock sensor replaced. I pay and start to pull off, but the car is hard to steer. First thing the guy says is Its probably the pump. WEIRD that it decided to go right after i had all that work done. somebody on this board said it might be a vacuum line or vsv i think, When i took car back, mechanic said he didnt see any vacuum lines loose. I wish i knew what else to look for. ( ANY HELP IS WELCOME)
LONG STORY SHORT. I have purchased a new pump, and wanted to know is there anything else i need to purchase for the job, like gasket, seal belt, or any other parts that are commonly replaced when replacing the power steering pump?
