please help identify brown part

I grabbed this from a post made by tstokka. I recently had work done on my car (not satisfied) and i saw a part on my car like the brownish looking piece at the bottom of this picture. It looks like a pcv valve but im not sure. If it is pcv valve, what does the hose its connected to go to? and if there is a hose connected to it, what can it do?

brown plastic L shaped one?

that is the PCV valve. the hose on it is just a breather hose, should be connected to intake manifold on the other end somewhere (not sure where honestly, never checked).

Pretty sure it routes back over to the driver's side and dumps into the intake ductwork. Downstream of the MAF/MAP sensor (that's the part I'm not certain of). So if the hose is missing, the PCV valve will just spew into the air. No real harm done except polluting the air a bit. At the other end, it would be a pretty big intake air leak, and if it's on the wrong side of the sensor, it would be un-measured air, so it would likely lean it out.

I am looking at my 93 se with 3vz-fe and that hole is plugged. I just pulled another one sitting on my engine stand and it is plugged as well. If you need a pic let me know. But just go to any autoparts store and they can get you one. Also reset your computer before starting it back up. Get a discount from your repair guy also if he was in that area. Good luck.

Are you talking about the brass-looking tube circled in yellow?... Cuz the OP is not asking about that. He's asking about the hose connected to the brown PCV valve.

Off topic, but mine's got a hose connected to the brass tube; what is that anyways?
